Key Databases (In-Depth Research)

These databases are your primary tools for finding peer-reviewed, scholarly articles. "Peer-reviewed" means that the articles have been vetted for quality and accuracy by other experts in the field before being published.

1.  CUNY OneSearch: A Great Starting Place. Think of this as the library's version of Google.  It searches for books, e-books, articles, videos, and from many resources. A good place to start before diving into more specialized databases.

2. Diversity Studies Collection:  Provides access to scholarly journals and magazines from AcademicOneFile and General OneFile databases that explore cultural differences, contributions, and influences in the global community.

3.  JSTOR: A searchable collection of the complete runs (minus the most recent 2 to 5 years) of hundreds of the most significant scholarly journals. For historical and humanities articles

4.  Academic Search CompleteAccess to articles from magazines and peer-reviewed journals, as well as books, conference papers and proceedings, and educational reports from almost all academic areas of study.

5.  ProQuest databases: Full text of books, articles and dissertations published from 1997 and abstracts from 1980. Also, Indexes close to two million dissertations and theses from institutions in North America and Europe from 1861.
