If you are a CUNY student and/or employee, your CUNY Login account username will be in the format Firstname.LastnameNN@login.cuny.edu, where “NN” is the last 2+ digits of your CUNY EMPLID.
Most students will be prompted to claim/activate their CUNY Login account and set a password as part of the online student application process. If you have not set the password for your CUNY Login account, you can use the <a href="https://managelogin.cuny.edu/OIMSelfService/registration?execution=e5s1" target="_blank">new user link</a> at the bottom of the CUNY Login page.

Sometimes, library databases (like Ebsco and Jstor) will have their own separate login, which enables you to use more features. But logging in with these kinds of logins is <b>optional!</b>
Once you log in through a John Jay Library-branded login page, you will be able to access the articles/ebooks/videos in the database.
If you use that database a lot and want to save folders of useful sources, go ahead and make an account with them. The database account will not be connected to your library/JJ account; you can use a different email address.
Always read the terms of service. If you sign up for a database account, you will likely get regular emails from the database company advertising features and products.

The yellow alert bar in OneSearch is an optional login link. You will still be able to access most search results in OneSearch without logging in.
Logging in here will allow you to place requests for print books and to renew your currently checked-out items.

The login page you are probably looking at is likely unrelated to the John Jay Library.

Log in with the same username and password that you use to access <b> John Jay email.</b>
Student usernames are typically firstname.lastname, like jane.doe, although they occasionally have a number, like jane.doe2.
Faculty usernames are typically first initial followed by lastname, like jdoe. Occasionally, more letters from the first name are included, like jadoe.

The username you need right now is the same username for your John Jay email address (something like jane.doe@jjay.cuny.edu or jdoe@jjay.cuny.edu). Don't include the "@jjay.cuny.edu" part in your username.

Contact the DoIT Helpdesk (212-237-8200 or helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu) and tell them exactly this: "I reset my password. I can log into my email, but I can't log into the library databases."
They should be able to fix this or tell you if there's an account limitation of some sort.
